Product Description
KENDRA BARES ALL

Fans of the E! smash hit series The Girls Next Door fell in love with sporty Playboy beauty Kendra Wilkinson’s care- free spirit, infectious laugh, and down-to-earth nature. Now that she’s moved out of the world’s most famous bachelor pad and into her own delightfully chaotic world on Kendra as wife to NFL star Hank Baskett and mother to their newborn son, we’ve watched her hilarious antics as she adjusts to domestic life. But how much do we really know about the fun-loving star? In this humorous and optimistic, sometimes heartbreaking, but always unfailingly honest memoir, Kendra reveals the highs and lows of her extraordinary journey.

She wasn’t always the quintessential girl next door. Before she was a reality television superstar, Hugh Hefner’s girlfriend, or one of the most popular Playboy cover models ever, Kendra was an athletic tomboy whose father walked out on her family when she was a little girl. She grew into a rebellious teenager with a serious drug habit before she quit cold turkey and beat the odds to graduate from a high school that almost didn’t give her a second (or third, or fourth) chance.

Following her rocky teenage years, an out-of-the- blue phone call from Hugh Hefner changed everything. Kendra dishes candidly about life in the Playboy Mansion: the sex, the parties, the show, and even her relationships with her Girls Next Door costars—Hef, Holly, and Bridget. She tells the true story about how she and Hank met and built a relationship in secret while she was still Hef’s girl- friend and a public face of Playboy. Finally, she reflects on the slew of unexpected changes in the short space of a year that have brought her sliding into home from Playboy party girl to wife and mother with a blooming Hollywood career. If you think you’ve seen all of Kendra, think again. She’s only warming up. . . .

5 out of 5 stars If Kendra can author a book...   August 2, 2010

Living in Chgo, and visiting the Playboy Club in its early days, I have always had minor curiosity about Hefner, and the Playboy Enterprises. After watching a few episodes of The Girls Next Door on E!, and observing Hefner's "fossil-like" self interact with his "girlfriends", my curiosity was peaked as to how or why these beautiful, talented girls functioned in such a wierd setting. Of the three girls, Kendra, although probably the most attractive, but definitely the least cerebral of the three, always seemed like she just didn't fit in. I could not imagine her authoring a book, but as dull as she is, she did choose a co-author who turned her recollections into a reasonably enjoyable read. This book certainly details the more bizarre aspects of her life at "the Mansion", and surprisingly enough makes you feel that Kendra is more than a pretty face. Somehow, with all of her past experiences of a "less than desirable life and its dark experiences", she manages to portray a woman who landed with her feet on the ground, with amazingly strong mores....go figure!

This is a great quick read by Kendra. You learn a lot about her growing up before the Playboy Mansion, what really goes on at the Mansion, her relationship with Hef, Holly & Bridgette and what really went on with Hank. It's a fun and funny story to read.

5 out of 5 stars What a life she has had so far!   July 31, 2010

I wasn't even a fan of Kendra's or The Girls Next Door when it originally aired; I started watching her last winter when there wasn't much else on, but now I'm hooked on her show, and I'm trying to get caught up on all the older episodes of The Girls Next Door whenever they are on.

This book was so good I didn't put it down. I read it from cover to cover in 5 hours, it was that interesting. She had a rough childhood and most of her middle school and high school years were even worse, mostly due to her own doing. That being said, she has made a tremendous change in her life for the better, and I truly respect her for that.

I wish the book would have gone into more detail about Hef and the Mansion, but from the gist of what I read in this book, my questions were pretty much answered. I just wanted the gory details!!! And I'm sure out of respect for Hef, Kendra could have said a lot more about the Mansion but she kept her mouth shut. Before this book, I didn't think much of Hef, but I have a newfound respect for the way he treats his women.

Kendra may be a celebrity, but deep down she is no different than the rest of us. She is REAL. I loved the eight pages of color photos. And I especially thought the laxative story during physical therapy class was hilarious! I think the last 1/3 of the book was definitely the best - starting with the time she met Hank for the first time at the golf outing.

If you're a Kendra fan, this book will not disappoint you. I'm looking forward to a sequel.

way to go kendra you play the game of life with your heart and having given everything in your life nothing short of your personal best. thank you for having the courage to share your life and turning all the negatives into positives. you are living the dream you made come true, yes because people believed in you but most of all because you believed in yourself ~ without those experiences you would not be able to appreciate the real ones the way that you do. congrats girl!

5 out of 5 stars Best Celebrity Memior   August 16, 2010

This was the best celebrity memior I've read in a long time. Kendra's honesty was by far remarkable, I really wanted to read this book again as soon as I finished it. The details about her "drug Life" was something I would have never pictured by seeing the Kendra we see today Wow! The mental state of mind, she was really suffering, had to be in so much pain.

To overcome the demons that pleged her life. The secret romance she had with Hank was heartwarming. How awesome to express this fabulous secret while she was still "Hef" girlfriend. Kendra is fascinating. This book Sliding into home would make a great movie.
